Welcome to the Student rights office online

The Student rights office's role is to safeguard student rights within the academic community. The office offers counselling and other assistance in order for students to solve issues related to the academic community. The student ombudsman can, on request, act as a student's representative towards the university authorities and students' names will be undisclosed unless prior approval therein has been granted.

All students of the University of Iceland, that think their rights have been violated, can seek assistance from the office.

It is best to reach the ombudsman through email: guk18@hi.is. Students can send us a line or request an interview by emailing us.

The Student rights office assistance is free of charge.

The Student rights office always seeks to answer questions posed by students to its fullest aptitude and advice on the next steps towards a solution. Those who seek assistance are encouraged to watch the timelimits for appealing.
